George Rickey was an American kinetic sculptor born in 1907. Rickey began his career studying painting then shifted his focus to sculpture. Inspired by Alexander Calder’s oeuvre, he produced his firs mobiles in 1945. In his works Rickey further developed and perfected the idea of movement and natural time. Rickey used the laws of natur, wind power and gravity for his artwork. Rickeys works are mostly simple constructions, implemented with scientific precision.
